With the loss of natural habitat for the birds as shopping malls and homes are built where trees once stood, these types of calls are only going to increase as the natural environment decreases. The birds have to nest somewhere.
What are the risks with the birds in the vents?Birds in dryer vents present several types of risks, one major risk is a fire hazard. As the birds build up nesting material, they block the flow of air coming from the dryer area, as the dryer blows hot air can not escape and could com-bust the material inside the dryer vent. This is a very real hazard with gas dryers in particular. Another type of risks is the health hazard associated with birds in vents. Your home can become infested with lice and mites that accumulate in the nesting area of the birds. These are very small insects that you can barley see. They will bite and turn your skin red and irritated.

The biggest complaint with Birds in Vents?

bird flying into open bathroom vent

The biggest complaints we get from folks having birds in the vents is the noise. These are some very loud little creatures and once the bird eggs hatch, the noises is amplified by about 6 times. This noise will continue for about 5-6 weeks. If something happens to the nest, the adult bird will start the cycle completely over again. This will continue the noise for another 6 weeks. The options you have at this point is pretty limited, You can call a professional wildlife control company to assist you in removing these birds with young babies. I will insert several photo of birds flying in and out of vents, most of these photos represent birds that are carrying food from a park to their babies that wait inside the vent. This kind of activity goes on all day long! I hope you enjoy these photos and descriptions of this particular problem.

mother bird in vent with worm

female bird with babies in vent

Birds have bombarded bathroom and dryer vents across the east coast over the last couple weeks.
