Skunks are usually black and while it color and are about the same size as a house cat. Skunks like to live in very tight places that make them inaccessible to predators. They pick areas such as porch stoops, under houses or trailers and in holes near fences. Skunks are the # 1 Carrier of Rabies in the United States.

The skunk breeding season usually starts in February (depending in what part of the country you are in). They have a gestation period of 62 to 66 days.

A Skunk will typicaaly dig under your porch or stoop near your steps. The smell from a skunk can sometimes be over whelming and cause you to be sick. The smell from a skunk comes from a liquid oil being sprayed from its crotch area. This oily substance is very sticky and as we all know, smells really bad. Some of the ways you can rid of a skunk smell is by using the following concoction:

1.5 quarts

Hydrogen Peroxide (found at the Grocery store)

1/4 cups

Baking Soda (Grocery Store)

2 tbsp

Dish Detergent. We are, after all, creating a oxygen generator. Wash the dog with this solution while it is still foaming, because it is the oxygen which reacts with the thiols in the skunk stink to neutralize the odor. If it sits around for several minutes it will loose it’s efficacy because the oxygen boils off quickly. This will not store, do not attempt to cap this as pressure will build and it will blow up!!.

[7
