It never fails, write about the time everyone sits down for either Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas dinner the phone rings, it’s a customer on the line who has a very upsetting problem. It seems they have a squirrel in the attic and they are having dinner in less than two hours, can you come immediately? You would have to take off both shoes to use all your fingers and toes to count how many times I’ve left my dinner table to assist others in need. The key to avoiding this mad rush to have a squirrel or any other kind of animal removed from your attic is to properly handle the problem as soon as it is discovered. Most people we perform services for have known about the animal in the attic for several days or possibly even several weeks. The question is why do they wait to the last minute?
Squirrels can be one of the more difficult animals to catch when you are in a hurry, sometimes the squirrel removal and control job can take several days and is not a quick fix. I remember several Christmases ago when a nice lady called to tell me she had a squirrel that was running around in the upstairs of her home. Her family was due to arrive within the hour, and she wanted me to be there and have the squirrel removed before they got, Yea Right! She even said she would pay extra if I can have this done! There was no way that I can explain to the nice lady that is not possible. But hey I’ll try! On arrival to the nice lady house, I immediately saw the squirrel on top of the ladies home. I put the ladder on the side of the house, the squirrel jumps into a tree, runs down the tree, hops on power line, runs down the power pole, crosses the street, runs down the neighbors fence and is gone! The nice lady is so upset that I let the squirrel go. I Tell the lady you can’t let go of something you never caught! She is furious that she is expecting Christmas company in less than an hour and there will be a squirrel running around her roof. I guess she did not understand the proper planning concept. It’s the moral of the story is you should not wait to the last minute to have any kind of work done that’s going to impeede your holiday schedule. Sometimes animal work and specifically trapping can take upwards of a week for the whole job to be completed. Wildlife removal and control agents also have families that they would like to be with throughout the holiday season.
Squirrels in the attic can be a very challenging task, sometimes weather plays into the difficulties in the northern section of the United States. Icy roofs and slick sidewalks sometimes makes setting up a ladder very difficult. Weather and other issues ofen times plays a role in how efficient a wildlife control agent can control a problem in and around your house, wrapping up, squirrels in the attic is not a fun thing to have over the Christmas holidays and steps should be taken to eliminate the problem before the Christmas holiday, New Year’s holiday arrives. Last minute efforts to rid yourself of these animals often lead to inflated prices, poor quality of work, any wildlife control professional in a hurry to please you and to get back to his family to enjoy the holiday season. All three of the aforementioned items make for a very poorly performed squirrel in attic removal job. If your schedule will not permit you to be home so you can keep track of your squirrel in the attic problem, then you should probably wait until after the new year to have any kind of work done. Either that or you should modify your schedule to make yourself available during the holiday season so the wildlife control professional can efficiently do his job.
