Wasp
Wasps are a unique creature they are in the order of Hymenoptera and suborder of Apocrita that is neither a bee nor ant. Now I know that we humans think as bees as all flying stinging things. but that is not true. Wasps are in a order and family of their own. A quick fact to know is there are over 4,000 kinds of wasps in the United States.
These type of wasps include Hornets, Yellow Jackets, Paper Wasps and Potter Wasps just to name a few. All a very aggressive and will sting if felt threatened. The most aggressive type of wasp in this group is the Hornet (usually a bald face hornet) These wasps will attack in large numbers if their hive(nest) is threatened. The average Hornet nest contains aprox. 5000 wasps. there have been other that have had over 250000 wasps in it. When a nest is disturbed the wasp that is Guarding the nest(which is known as a Sentinel) sends out a alarm pheromone which signals the other wasp in the nest to defend the nest at all costs. This equals someone or something being stung many times. The good part? Each wasp can only sting you one time.
People may be allergic to bee and wasp stings, deaths have been documented in many cases where the person only received a single bee sting. One the other hand there have been thousands of people who have survived several hundred bee stings, Its all in how your body reacts to the venom. Every person is different. The danger that wasps impose to people is simple, Its the possibility of being stung and the unknown of how your body will react.

African Honey Bees
Africanized hybrid bees have become the preferred types of bee for beekeeping in Central America and in other tropical areas of South America because of improved productivity. However, in most areas the productivity is not important as these bees are very aggressicve!! It get these atributes from it African relatives that make it less desirable for domestic beekeeping. Specifically the Africanized bee:
- Tends to swarm more frequently and go farther than other types of honey bees.
- Will migrate as part of a seasonal response to lowered food supply.
- Is more likely to “abandon”—the entire colony leaves the hive and relocates—in response to stress.
- Has greater defensiveness when in a resting swarm,
- Lives more often in ground cavities than the European types.
- Guards the hive aggressively, with a larger alarm zone around the hive.
This is What most people fear about Africanized bees, they are very aggressive!!
